1.   What are the Minimum System Requirements for viewing Digital Editions?

To ensure the best viewing experience of the Digital Editions we recommend the following minimum computer and software specifications. These specifications are the base standard for most computers today.

A. Windows and Macintosh

  1. Windows XP or above
  2. MAC 10.4 OS or above
  3. Memory (RAM) 1GB or above (recommended)
  4. 1024 x 768 monitor resolution with 16-bit video card

B. Online Editions

  1. Internet Explorer 6.0 and above, or
  2. Mozilla 5.0 and above, or
  3. Safari 2.0
  4. Firefox

Flash Player:

·         Windows: Flash Player 9.0.115 or above required

·         Macintosh: Flash Player 9.0.115 or above required

2.   Why doesn’t the Digital Edition open?

If your browser security settings are ‘High’ the Digital Edition might not open and either:

1.   The Edition buttons will be grey (turns blue when available); or

2.   You will see the following message (or similar) at the top of the window:

Pop-up Blocked?

What are Pop-ups?

When you click the Online or Mobile button a Pop-up window opens displaying the Digital Edition.

A Pop-up is a web browser window that appears on top of the website you're viewing.

If your Pop-up Blocker settings are ‘High’ the Digital Edition might not open and you will see the following message (or similar) at the top of the window:

If you get this message, click the message and allow:

•     Hold down Ctrl/Alt and click the ‘Online’ button to override the Blocker.

•     Change your Pop-up Blocker setting to ‘Medium’, and/or change the ‘Exceptions’

4. Why won’t my Desktop Edition open?

1)   If you have uninstalled Adobe AIR you may need to restart if you reinstall it.

2)   Having a problem installing Adobe AIR, go to Troubleshoot AIR installation at http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/403/kb403150.html

5.   How do I save the Edition to my Desktop?

Install Version

1)   Click on the DESKTOP Edition button on the launch page and follow the prompts.

2)   Click Install Now

3)   Click Open

4)   Click Install

5)    Click Continue to use default Installation Preferences, or change to suit.

To re-open the Digital Edition click on the desktop icon.

Save Version

1)    Click on the DESKTOP Edition button on the launch page and follow the prompts.

2)   Click Save

2)    Choose location to Save Edition to

3)    Go to location and double click to launch

4)    Click Install

5)    Click Continue to use default Installation Preferences, or change to suit.

To re-open the Digital Edition click on the desktop icon.

6.   How do I uninstall the Desktop Edition?

Go to Add / Remove programs to uninstall individual Desktop Editions.

7.   How do I view on a Mobile Device?

1)   Nothing Extra to do.  Our LITE portal automatically created the relevant versions of our Editions which can then be viewed on all PC, Mac and i-devices. Irrespective of whether the device has the ability to run Flash or not.

8.   Why does the browser sometimes shutdown on my ipad when i swipe the page?

8)   Known iPad bug in the Safari browser. Check for upgrade.

9.   On iphone - why does the landing page cut in half when viewing in landscape mode?

9)   Landing page size is controlled by the iPad, we have no control of iPad size. The Samsung Galaxy S mobile phone scales the splash page.
